I guess in many ways the work of artists like Lisa Black wouldn't be considered Steampunk in purest form. Still, if (like me) your love of the mechanical + biological creation runs right along side your love of all that is Steampunk, you should take a look at Lisa's work.
Her unique creations have been featured in Wired.com, BoingBoing.net, Notcot.org,
Treehugger.com, Pilot Magazine, as well as other publications.
I can't help but be fascinated by the vision of Lisa Black. It's just the Mad Scientist in me I suppose.
Lisa's work is currently being exhibited at:
Wonder BoxJ Go Gallery in Utah
and
Civic Museum Reggio Emilia in Italy

Brass & Bone : The Art of Jessica Joslin
Saturday was the last day of the "Lush Life 3" exhibit at Roq La Rue in Seattle, WA. Its a group show of various artists but one in particular, Jessica Joslin is a unique standout.
Although I don't think she considers her work Steampunk per se, I see an aesthetic that is familar in almost all of her work. The odd collection of bits of brass and bone formed into beautifully peculiar shapes is part of my particular fascination and I want to share it with you. Enjoy!!
Jessica Joslin will be presenting more of her work at Lisa Sette Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ in April.
