Johnny Hollow

I have had the pleasure today to come across Johnny Hollow.  I've been taken aback over the last few weeks to see so many musicians whose work intersects with Steampunk so well.  Beautiful vocals and a the haunting sound of the cello makes "Nova Heart" my favorite of today.

Marquis of Vaudeville - "Utopian Playland"

There is something incredible about newly discovered music that makes my brain spin in multi-layered, co-centric circles.  Today I'm spinning over the inspired sounds of Marquis of Vaudeville.  Step aside, SteamRock is coming through!

Agatha H. - Girl Genius !!

Jägermonsters, Madboys, and Sparks OH MY!!
The "Girl Genius" web comic has been running online for years now.  The creation of Phil and Kaja Foglio, Girl Genius is not only an awesome Steampunk fantasy brought life with hilarious writing and fantastic artwork, it is also the winner of the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story 3 years running.
As one of my favorite comics ever,  imagine how I felt when I picked up the first volume of Girl Genius as a novel! Score!!  The  first installment was a great read, especially if you're already a fan.  My thank to the Foglios for giving me one more way to indulge my favorite un-guilty pleasure!

SPOOKYPOP - The Art of Doktor A.

Is it just me or are these the awesomest (<< spell check says thats not a word) little things you've ever seen!  Things like this are what have drawn me towards Steampunk all along.

Doktor A. is the genius behind these toys and I have been inspired.  When I grow up I wanna be a Doktor too!  My mother will be so proud!

"Rasputina" - Was Love Ever So Sweet ?

I'm in love it's true.  My heart has been captured by swoon of the cello and the corseted beauty of Melora Creager.  Rasputina has been around since 1991 (or 1891?) but I feel as though our love affair began just yesterday (and it did).

Incredible music with a heavy Victorian motif.  You're all I needed today and so I will make you mine forever (in the form of MP3).

Vernian Process - Music for Mad Scientists!!

My love for Steampunk has made a new discovery -- Music for Mad Scientists!!

My first taste has come in the form of Vernian Process.  Based out of the Bay Area these guys have been around for long time now.  Their sound is a mix of modern and old-world flavor evoking imagery of all that steamy in Steampunk!

You can find this song and more of the same at iTunes
